What does end-of-life care mean?

End-of-life care includes medical, emotional and social support services to help your pet and family members when you decide to euthanize your pet. The goal of end-of-life services is to control the pain and other symptoms and provide care to ensure the patient and their family members are as comfortable as possible.

How can I make the decision to end my pet’s life?

While we understand how difficult it is to make such a decision, it is a decision that helps your pet live their last days of life without anguish. Our veterinarians can help guide your decision by evaluating your pet’s quality of life. If they find that quality of life is decreasing because of terminal illness or age-related issues, euthanasia is recommended.

How can I honour my pet’s life?

In the days leading up to the procedure, spend as much time as possible with your cherished pet. Arrange for all loved ones to say their goodbyes and make your pet feel loved and happy as they get ready to transition peacefully. We also offer on-site cremation at Sydney Animal Hospital that you can arrange for in advance.
